Guest recommendation

To a restaurant in a hostel directly connected to Jaen Station. It wasn't on the menu, but when we asked for a recommendation, they suggested "Salmorejo." It's a cold soup similar to gazpacho, and apparently bread is also blended into it. It had a slightly spicy flavor, and it was much more filling than we imagined. At first we planned to share one plate among the three of us, but we were told, "You'll only get small portions, so one plate per person is recommended." We decided to take their advice, and we were surprised by how generous it was! The amount was actually enough for the three of us even with one plate. Our other dish was their recommended special grilled meat platter (40€). We could enjoy a variety of meats including venison chorizo, beef, chops, and presa. The simple salt seasoning brought out the umami of the meat, and the mild venison chorizo was so delicious we kept reaching for more. The herb aroma was wonderful, and we went through a lot of red wine🍷 We were also happy with the service that allowed us to take home leftovers in a container.

I went to a restaurant where I've become acquainted with the staff from previous visits. They were surprised I came to eat alone, but they halved the portions of both dishes and also gave me a half-price discount. I was really pleased by such thoughtfulness😊 First, a salad of tomato, mango, avocado, and Merba. The Merba was so large I thought it might be chicken breast, and the tomato had a rich, delicious aroma! However, even at half size, the portion was just right for me, and I was a little worried whether I'd be able to finish the main dish... Next, flamenkín made with Iberian pork presa. The coating was crispy and light, and even though I said I was full, I just kept eating (laughs). The saltiness was a bit strong for my taste, but the excellent texture left an impression on me. It seems many restaurants in Jaén are closed on Sundays, and I'm a bit curious whether this place is also open on Saturday nights. I was glad I was able to enjoy a delicious meal on Friday.
